They usually do not write blogs but use social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc., instead.

For example, take food bloggers.

They may post photos of a new recipe and how it was made followed by a short paragraph about how it tasted and the ingredients used in it.

You can be a blogger and an influencer, but typically it's one or the other because they have different goals in mind when doing their work.

I'm sure you've heard about bloggers and influencers, but what is the difference between them?

1) A blogger is a person who writes for a blog, while an influencer is someone who has followers on social media sites such as Instagram, Facebook or Twitter.

There are many different types of blogging platforms where you can publish your blog posts such as Wordpress, Medium or Tumblr.

2) It’s easier to create content for blogging because it’s not just text—you can post pictures, videos and links to other articles.

3) You don’t need to have any type of following in order to be considered a blogger, which means it’s easier than being an influencer.

4) One way that people gain followers is by purchasing followers from third-party companies.

5) Some bloggers use these tactics to make themselves look like influencers when they're really not.

6) The two share similarities, but there are also differences that distinguish one from the other.

7) If you want to grow your following and stay up-to-date with current trends, then an influencer might be more appropriate.

These reviews are usually given away for free, but some influencers might sell sponsored post packages which range anywhere from $50 - $1,000 per post.

It takes less effort to become an influencer than it does a blogger because the person just needs to find someone willing to pay them.

The skills

Bloggers are often more informal and blog about their personal life more than influencers, who tend to focus on their expertise.

Influencers are paid for their posts, which may be sponsored by a brand or product they use in their work, but bloggers usually aren't compensated for content they create.

Influencers have a certain expertise that they can offer to brands as well as an audience to reach through social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram while bloggers don't always have these advantages.

To be considered a true influencer, you need to have an online presence with at least 100k followers on one platform.

You also need to generate meaningful conversations with your followers regularly.

It takes a lot of time to become an influencer- it's not something you can do overnight.

It takes years of consistency and hard work to build up enough of a following on social media networks before advertisers will take notice and contact you directly with offers.

Influencers can make upwards of $5,000-$10,000 per post- sometimes even $25,000! Some brands pay per tweet or retweets if it hits certain benchmarks.

Influenced marketing has been around since the dawn of time but just recently has gained traction because our society is so obsessed with celebrity culture.

The content

An influencer can be anyone from a blogger to an athlete to a musician.

Influencers are influential on social media platforms like YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

They often endorse products or brands with their followers in exchange for money or product.

Brands hire them as ambassadors to promote their products or services.

For example, if you watch any of Oprah's shows or read any of her books, you know that she is an influencer! 

She has over 10 million Twitter followers and 30+ million likes on Facebook.

She has a powerful following! Brands have capitalized on this by using her to endorse their brand.

The more people she reaches, the more exposure they get too!

There are many differences between these two careers but at the end of the day both are used to create content that others want to consume! 

whereas a blogger creates posts according to his/her readers' interests.

There is no paywall on blogs, where you must subscribe to access certain posts; while it may take some time before someone becomes recognized enough to receive endorsements and offers, their readership grows steadily.

Unlike blogging, influencer work doesn't come without drawbacks.

In order to make money through social media sites such as YouTube, instagram and Snapchat, an account needs about 250k followers (and videos need about 1M views) which takes a lot of hard work and dedication.

On top of that, not everyone has what it takes to become famous--you need talent or have something interesting or unique about yourself in order to gain the notoriety necessary for success! 

To summarize, a blogger creates posts that he or she thinks will interest its audience.

While blogging does not offer monetary compensation and might be harder to build up followers than being an influencer, there are no limitations when it comes to the topics covered!

The audience

A blogger is someone who wants to share their passion for a topic or hobby with a wider audience by writing about it and sharing it on social media.

An influencer is an individual who has influence over people because of their subject matter expertise, personal character or professional credentials.

They can be thought of as experts in their fields.

If you want to use your blog as a way to build your following and make money from advertisements, then you are probably more of a blogger than an influencer.

If you want your followers to purchase products from companies that sponsor posts (which means they pay bloggers to write about their product), then you are more likely an influencer than a blogger.

When it comes down to this particular type of work, there isn't a whole lot of difference between what these two types do.

In fact, some would argue that blogging is just another form of advertising.

The biggest difference is really based on what you hope to accomplish through your blog.

It may seem like a difficult decision to choose between becoming a blogger or an influencer, but it actually doesn't have to be! 

You could have both and succeed at both! The key here is knowing which one better suits your personality and goals.

For example, if you're looking to earn money online through ads, blogs might be a better route for you.

But if you're looking to earn sponsorship fees from brands, then maybe influencer marketing is best.

For example, Chrissy Teigen has had great success being both an author and an influencer.

The monetization

It is true that there are some bloggers who monetize their blogs, but this is typically done in a few different ways.

Some may have advertising on their blogs, others may have an affiliate relationship with a company and get commissions when they refer people to a certain product, and still others may write sponsored posts for money or other forms of compensation.

Of course, there are also those bloggers who just do it for fun without any interest in making money from it at all.

The same can be said for influencers.

They can either monetize their social media channels by working with brands as sponsorships, or by receiving monetary compensation in exchange for posting content about products and services on social media sites.

Influencers are more likely than bloggers to use the following: Instagram Live video streaming, YouTube live video streaming, Snapchat stories, Facebook live video streaming.

A big difference between bloggers and influencers has to do with what platforms they tend to use.

For example, while many bloggers publish content only on their own blog, many influencers will create original content not only on their own blog, but also across multiple social media platforms including YouTube, Twitter and LinkedIn.

There is also a major difference between how these two groups treat sponsorship deals.

Influencers often post about the brands and products that they work with on their blogs as well as through social media marketing efforts, whereas bloggers rarely disclose if they have worked with a sponsor on their blog.

Lastly, blogging tends to take up more time than being an influencer because of the need to constantly produce new content in order to maintain your audience.

On the other hand, since influencers' audiences mainly come from social media posts, they don't need to keep producing fresh content in order to maintain their followership.
  • Influencers are much more likely than bloggers to be paid by sponsors and compensated for posting reviews on their blogs and online.
  • There are three main methods that bloggers use in terms of monetizing their site - advertising revenue, referral revenue (through affiliate relationships), and/or commission based income generated from writing sponsored posts.
With that being said, some bloggers forego monetization altogether and simply do it for fun.

You'll find a similar situation among influencers-some are unpaid and simply do it for the love of the game while others take payment in return for branded content.

So which type of blogger should you be? To answer that question, think about why you want to blog in the first place.

If you're looking for money, then becoming an influencer might be the way to go; however, if you're happy with doing it purely for enjoyment then a blog might be better suited to your needs.

Just remember to research both before making a decision!

It's hard to say which one you should be considering both have positives and negatives associated with them.

Just consider what matters most to you, your interests, skillset, etc., and pick the option that seems like the best fit!
